Taiwan's largest theme park has sparked controversy by hosting an event offering perks to visitors wearing short school uniforms.

According to foreign media such as Insider on the 6th local time, the Taiwan theme park 'Leofoo Village' has been running an event selling discounted admission tickets to people wearing school uniforms since the 1st.

The normal price of a theme park ticket is 999 Taiwan dollars (about 42,500 won), but visitors who come in school uniform can purchase it for 500 Taiwan dollars (about 21,000 won).

Among them, visitors wearing a short school uniform skirt with a length of at least 10 cm above the knee will also receive the privilege of 'free photo shoot and gift'.

The theme park side posted a photo of three women in school uniforms standing side by side on social media, and then said, "You can refer to the woman in the middle."

Some local netizens criticized the event, saying, "There is a risk of sexual objectification of women."

"This event in Yukbok Village can lead to privacy issues and increases the risk of someone taking pictures of women under their skirts," Wu Ziying, secretary general of the non-profit organization Hyundai Women's Foundation, told Taiwan Central News Agency.

He further pointed out that "relevant measures should be put in place to prevent illegal filming by unscrupulous people."

However, a theme park official countered, "There is no gender or age limit for the school uniform discount event," and "Men can appear wearing school uniform skirts."

He emphasized, "We planned this event with the pure intention of providing unforgettable memories to students about to graduate and relieving their financial burden."
