It was in May 2020 that a serious accident occurred in Sörfors, outside Sundsvall.

A car with six people, of which four residents in Hälsingland and two in Medelpad, overturned on the way from Hälsingland where they participated in a car meeting.

Four teenage boys died and the aftermath has become a protracted story.

The hearing in Sundsvall District Court was held on 16 February 2021 and when the verdict was handed down just over two weeks later, on 4 March, the driver was sentenced to two months in prison.

A milder sentence than the prosecutor had demanded.

Appealed the judgment

All parties appealed the verdict shortly afterwards, but over a year until the case was taken up in the Court of Appeal.

Something to do with the pandemic, where several court hearings have been postponed.

- It would have been desirable if you could have had the hearing earlier.

It must be dealt with expeditiously with regard to the fact that it is a young person who is a suspect and that there are serious consequences as a result of the crime, prosecutor Karin Everitt told SVT in connection with the Court of Appeal proceedings.

New evidence in the Court of Appeal

During the Court of Appeal hearing, she presented new evidence in the form of an investigation made by a traffic expert who assessed the speed of the accident car before the accident - and measured it at at least 144 km / h.

The prosecutor considered that the punishment was too lenient and demanded a more severe punishment for the woman and significantly more in damages than what the district court had ruled.

The defense disputed the claims made by the prosecutor.

Today, the Court of Appeal's judgment falls in the case.
