On the same level, the spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stephane Dujarric, urged, during a press conference in New York, respect for all religions and tolerance among their members.

Dujarric was responding to journalists' questions regarding the Secretary-General's position on the offensive comments to the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, made by the Indian official.

Delhi sees no justification for the condemnations

With the escalation of reactions, New Delhi rejected the broad Arab and international statements condemning the statements offensive to the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, and said that the condemnations were unjustified.

Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagshi said, in press statements, that the statement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (which condemns insulting the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him in India) is unjustified, describing it as narrow-minded.

He stressed that the Indian government categorically rejects the statement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, noting that New Delhi attaches the highest levels of respect to all religions.

The ruling party in India announced the suspension of the work of the media official in the ruling party, Kumar Jindal, against the background of his insulting statements to the Prophet and Islam, according to local media.

In the same context, the British newspaper The Times indicated that the ruling party in India is striving hard to quell Islamic responses due to the statements of one of its officials insulting the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.

The report adds that the responses have embarrassed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has previously boasted of his ties to the Muslim world and has visited several Middle Eastern countries.

The BJP's repudiation of the statements sparked ridicule from the opposition parties, as the Congress described the repudiation as a joke given that nurturing hatred is at the core of the BJP's approach, according to him.

Asaduddin Owaisi, a Muslim politician, commented that the statement was an insult to 200 million Indian Muslims, but that Modi and others focused on the external response, rather than allaying the fears of the country's Muslims, he said.

Owaisi sent a message to Uttar Pradesh Governor Yogi Aditnath, saying, "The government should bear the cost of treating the victim, and it is necessary to provide him with compensation as soon as possible."

While Indian journalist and activist Sohaib Daniel commented on the victim's video by saying Watch the video to get a graphic idea of what can happen to you being a Muslim, and how the so-called majority can harm you in this way.
