Today's fire station is located at Sundbyvägen-Carlavägen, in the northern part of Eskilstuna, and there is a need to be also south of the city to reduce the waiting time in case of alarms in those parts of the municipality.

- It is the case that the city is growing and we need to grow in the same line as the city, says Stellan Jakobsson, deputy rescue chief for the Eskilstuna Rescue Service.

The goal is for the new station to be staffed around the clock with at least five firefighters.

In the clip, SVT's reporter shows where the new rescue station can be built and Stellan Jakobsson tells more about what a new station would mean.

The construction of a new rescue station may be a collaboration between the municipality and Region Sörmland.

The region is expected to make a decision on planning after the summer.
