Republicans have criticized Joe Biden for his energy policies.

Thus, Senator Ted Cruz said that under the 46th President of the United States, gas prices doubled.

“Under Biden, natural gas prices DOUBLED (from $2.48 to $5.16) EXACTLY BECAUSE of the Green New Deal measures,” Cruz tweeted on June 6.

The day before, the head of the National Committee of the Republican Party, Ronna McDaniel, accused Biden of attacks on American energy.

“How much should gasoline cost us for Biden to stop attacking American energy?” she asks on her Twitter page.

Earlier, Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, for her part, called for a fight against record high electricity prices.

“Hard-working families are saddled with high gas prices and high energy costs.

To beat these record high prices, we need to ramp up domestic energy production,” she tweeted.

At the same time, many ordinary Americans criticize the actions of the US President in the situation with the rise in the price of gasoline (72% of respondents do not approve of the measures taken by the head of the White House in this area).

This is evidenced by the opinion poll of the ABC TV channel and the Ipsos company, conducted on June 3-4.

Not satisfied with 71% of respondents and how the head of the White House is fighting inflation.

Less than 30% of respondents support Biden's measures on these issues.

“Only a quarter of respondents approve of Biden's actions regarding inflation (28%) and gasoline prices (27%).

Remarkably, on both of these issues, Biden is supported by only a thin majority of Democrats: 56% of Democrats approve of his efforts to fight inflation, and 51% share the same view on gasoline prices, ”the study says.

It is also noted that for those Americans who, in their words, "really want to vote" in the November congressional elections, the most important issues are the economy and inflation.

"On a number of key issues, including economic recovery, inflation and gasoline prices, President Joe Biden's approval ratings from the American public remain low, as the majority disapproves of his current activities," the study says.

The survey also revealed that 61% of respondents negatively assess Biden's policy to restore the US economy, while 37% of respondents have a different point of view.

In addition, more than half of Americans (52%) do not approve of the actions of the US President on the situation related to Russia and Ukraine.

Only 46% of respondents support Biden's policy on this issue.

Energy factor

It is worth noting that against this background, Biden's approval rating for the presidency of the United States is at a record low of about 40%.

At the same time, more than 54% of Americans do not support the president's course.

This is evidenced by the data of the aggregator of the results of opinion polls of the RealClearPolitics portal.

Recall that the highest level of approval of Biden's policy of 55.8% was recorded at the end of January last year, when he first came to power.

According to analysts, such low current support ratings for the 46th US president are primarily due to the erroneous policy of the American leader in the energy sector, which led to a large-scale crisis in this industry and economic problems.

“Republicans are rightfully critical of Biden.

Even the US administration began to admit their mistakes.

In particular, Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen said that she did not fully understand the significance of the unforeseen and serious shocks that occurred in the economy, which led to higher energy prices and affected the United States.

In addition, she said that she had incorrectly assessed the scale of inflation, ”said Yury Rogulev, director of the Franklin Roosevelt Foundation for the Study of the United States at Moscow State University, in a conversation with RT.

However, in his opinion, these are far from all the mistakes that the Biden administration made and which later resulted in a large-scale energy crisis in the country.

“There are a lot of these mistakes.

In particular, this is a call for green energy and a reduction in the issuance of licenses for oil and gas production, a ban on the construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline, ”the expert said.

Recall that almost a year ago, in an editorial column in The Wall Street Journal, it was said that the explicit goal of Biden's policy as part of green energy plans is to reduce US oil and gas production and limit "the global supply of fossil fuels in the name of combating climate change" .

The same material noted that at the same time, the White House asked the OPEC oil cartel to increase oil production, “so that gasoline prices in the United States under Biden do not rise even more and exceed the level already reached.”

An article also appeared on the American conservative political website RedState at the time, the author of which said that Biden shook the US position in energy, "hitting the fossil fuel industry and disrupting the construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline in the interests of combating climate change and realizing a green agenda."

However, according to analysts, the situation with the rise in the price of energy resources in the United States was influenced not only by Biden's course on green energy, but also by Washington's imposition of an embargo on Russian energy resources, in particular, on oil and gas imports, in early March.

At the same time, the head of the White House then himself admitted that this measure would also hit the United States.

After this step, gasoline prices in the United States have repeatedly updated record levels.

Over the past three and a half months, a liter of gasoline at gas stations in the country has risen in price by an average of 31% - to a record $1.22.

At the same time, Biden called a decline in gasoline prices unlikely.

However, the White House blames the US energy troubles not on its leader Joe Biden, but on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Last week, US administration spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pied called high gasoline prices in the United States "Putin's rise in prices."

However, earlier in the US Congress it was already noted that the increase in fuel prices in the United States is not associated with the actions of the Russian authorities, but with the policy of Biden and his team.

“The head of the White House still does not allow increasing oil and gas production in the United States, introducing certain regulations because of his green agenda.

In addition, the energy sector is now deliberately underfunded by them.

For these reasons, oil production remains at a level lower than it was under the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, ”said Malek Dudakov, an American political scientist, in a comment to RT.

"Cannot cope with a number of tasks"

As Yuri Rogulev explained, the Biden administration, apparently, underestimates the importance for the Americans of the issue of rising prices for gasoline and oil, as well as rising inflation.

“The fact is that in the United States there are two main modes of transport - road and air.

This requires a large amount of fuel, which is now very expensive.

And if the price of gasoline and oil rises, then the cost of flights and transportation rises, and, accordingly, the price of food and goods increases, as does inflation, ”the expert said.

At the same time, the analyst is confident that such blunders in the energy sector and the economy of the current administration of Democrat Biden will have an extremely negative impact on the chances of the Democratic Party in the upcoming congressional elections.

“For many Americans, it is already clear that Biden is not coping with a number of tasks that lie ahead of him.

The topic of Ukraine and Russia, on which the American leader probably relied instead of solving internal problems in the United States, including those related to the energy crisis, is much less interesting to residents of the States than high gasoline prices and inflation,” the analyst noted.

A similar position is shared by Malek Dudakov.

According to him, first of all, Biden's unsuccessful measures in the economy and the energy sector "hit the positions of the Democrats in the upcoming congressional elections."

“It is quite possible that this will be the reason why the Democrats will lose their majority in both chambers.

This is due to the fact that Biden has no success either in the fight against high prices for gasoline, oil and gas, or against inflation.

Even in the foreign policy direction, on the issue on which Biden himself concentrated - on the Ukrainian-Russian theme, he does not have any victories.

Obviously, against this background, the majority of the population negatively assesses the policy of the US president as a whole and will not be ready to cast their votes for the Democrats, ”the expert concluded.
