“In Russia, they respect the sovereign democratic will of the citizens of our friendly republic on key issues of its political and socio-economic development,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Earlier, the Central Commission for the Referendum of Kazakhstan stated that the turnout for voting on amendments to the Constitution after the closure of all polling stations on the territory of the republic amounted to 68.44%.

Violations of public order during the constitutional referendum in Kazakhstan were not registered.

The observer mission of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization recognized the past referendum as transparent and democratic.
