Kuwait Designates 13 Individuals and 3 Entities "Terrorist Groups"

Yesterday, Kuwait and the member states of the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center designated 13 individuals and 3 entities as terrorist groups.

The list of names included 3 individuals affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards, 4 individuals and one company affiliated with the terrorist organization ISIS, 6 financiers affiliated with the terrorist group "Boko Haram", and two terrorist groups: (Al-Ashtar Brigades and Al-Mukhtar Brigades).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that "within the framework of Kuwait's efforts to combat terrorism and dry up its sources, the Committee for the Implementation of Security Council Resolutions issued under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter related to combating terrorism and preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued its decision yesterday."

She added: This action was taken in partnership with the United States of America, "the co-chair of the Center for Targeting Terrorism Financing with Saudi Arabia," in addition to the center's members: Bahrain - Kuwait - the Sultanate of Oman - Qatar - and the UAE.

These measures are a continuation of the efforts taken by the center to target the financing of terrorism, and they also confirm the keenness of Kuwait and the member states to deepen partnership with the United States of America to suppress the financing of terrorist groups, which pose a threat to the interests and security of the member states of the center.

In implementation of Security Council Resolution No. 1373 (2001) issued under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, necessary measures will be taken in accordance with Kuwait's constitution and local laws and regulations through the concerned authorities in the country.
