Imprisonment and a fine is a penalty for possession of funds obtained from drug crimes
The State Public Prosecution, through a tweet posted yesterday on its social media accounts, clarified the penalty for possession of funds obtained from drug crimes.
The Public Prosecution indicated that according to Article 65 of Federal Decree-Law No. 30 of 2021 regarding combating narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, which stipulates that whoever possesses, conceals or performs any operation of funds shall be punished with imprisonment and a fine of no less than 100,000 dirhams. There is sufficient evidence or presumption that it may have occurred as a result of committing any of the crimes stipulated in this Decree-Law.
The dissemination of this information comes within the framework of the State Public Prosecution’s ongoing campaign to enhance the legal culture among members of society, publish all the new and updated legislation in the country, and raise the level of public awareness of the law, with the aim of spreading the culture of law as a way of life.
