The official said this at a special telephone briefing for journalists on the occasion of the opening of the summit in Los Angeles.

“The summit is an opportunity for us to gather with the whole hemisphere and solve key issues for the region,” TASS quoted him as saying.

The official explained that the discussion would include “economic development, climate change, the migration crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“Five documents will be adopted that will represent an ambitious consensus within the hemisphere on everything from civil society to strengthening digital connectivity,” he said.

Earlier, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador refused to go to the Summit of the Americas in the United States.

Instead, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard will attend the event.
