The Center for Amicable Settlement of Disputes at Dubai Courts awarded a compensation of 40,000 dirhams to a student who was assaulted by his neighbor, who started an argument because of the accused’s cat and the victim’s dog, who stated in the Public Prosecution’s investigations that his dog was psychologically damaged by the incident as he fled for fear of the aggressor and was only found in The next morning, he refrained from eating and drinking because of his tension and fear, which prompted him to take him to the veterinary clinic to receive the necessary care.

The incident began, according to the police report and the Public Prosecution’s investigations, when the accused’s cat left the house while the latter entered after returning from work, and the cat ran in the street, so he tried to catch up with him, while the victim was passing by with his dog, 


and the investigations stated that the accused heard his neighbor The victim says, speaking to the dog, “The cat is afraid of you, dog.” The statement provoked the accused, who responded to him, then assaulted him, pointing out that there were previous disputes between the two neighbors that ended in a police reconciliation report against the background of the victim’s damaging the accused’s wife’s car.

The victim said in the investigations of the Public Prosecution that he was walking in the street in front of his residence in Mirdif with his dog, and suddenly his neighbor stopped next to him and looked at him sharply, repeating phrases that the student did not hear because he was wearing a headset, but he understood the word “spirit” and continued his way, And then he was surprised by the accused following him, insulting him with indecent words and assaulting him, and the accused’s wife and her brother ran from his house and tried to prevent him from assaulting him, but he insisted on continuing to beat him, and he was carrying the key to his vehicle in his hand and hit him several times on the palm of his slippers, but he He took off his shirt, jacket and wristwatch and pushed him across his chest, causing him to fall to the ground.


The victim added that the accused entered his house and brought a wooden stick with which he tried to hit him, but his wife and brother managed to control him and bring him to his residence, so he went to the police station and wrote a report, then a medical report at Rashid Hospital.

He explained that surveillance cameras in a neighbor's house documented the incident, pointing out that his dog was also subjected to severe psychological damage as a result of the attack, as he fled in fear of the accused and was absent for a whole day, and when he was found the next day, he was tense and refused to eat and drink until he had to take him to the veterinary clinic.

For his part, the accused admitted during the investigations of the Public Prosecution and before the Criminal Court that he attacked the safety of his neighbor and insulted him, attributing this to the latter’s insulting of him with the phrase “Oh, dog.”

Legal Counsel Muhammad Naguib, from the victim's defense, stated that the results of the technical reports, the unloading of the cameras, and the confession of the accused to having committed the two incidents of assault and public insult reinforced the accusation against him.

After considering the case by the Criminal Court of First Instance and the Appeal, the accused was sentenced to a fine of 5,000 dirhams, and then the civil dispute was referred to the Center for Amicable Settlement of Disputes, which ruled in favor of the victim in the amount of 40,000 dirhams by 20,000 for moral and psychological damages, and his shame and grief due to Trespassing in front of his house in the presence of a group of his neighbors, and another 20 thousand for his medical expenses and litigation fees.
