“For President Vucic, there is also a moral, personal aspect of not joining the sanctions.

This factor also works in politics, we should not dismiss it, ”he said in an interview with Izvestia.

Among other aspects, the diplomat singled out the opinion of the majority of citizens of the state - according to him, the Serbs simply have no idea how sanctions can be imposed on Russia, taking into account the spiritual and cultural closeness between the countries.

In addition, the economic factor has an impact on Belgrade's position.

“Everyone understands that anti-Russian sanctions would lead to very noticeable damage to the economy and the social sphere.

Undoubtedly, regular dialogue between the heads of our states plays the main role,” the ambassador added.

Earlier, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that despite the pressure, Serbia will pursue an independent and sovereign policy as long as it can.

Member of the European Parliament Viola von Cramon on the air of the N1 TV channel said that the Serbian authorities would be even more actively put pressure on the country to support the Western sanctions against Russia.
