(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) Taiwan's epidemic prevention commander said that there may be a turning point in the epidemic after June 10

China News Agency, Taipei, June 5 (Xinhua) -- The "epidemic command center" of the Taiwan authorities announced on the 5th that there were 62,080 new locally confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia and 30 imported cases.

Among the confirmed cases, there were 252 new severe cases and 124 deaths.

According to media reports such as the Central News Agency and the "United Daily News", a 9-year-old boy was among the new deaths that day.

The boy suffered from congenital heart disease and died of congenital heart disease, new coronary pneumonia, and multiple organ failure.

A total of 15 children have died on the island after being diagnosed with new coronary pneumonia.

According to statistics, as of now, the vaccine coverage of children aged 5 to 11 years in six major cities in Taiwan is: Taipei City 49%, New Taipei City 45.7%, Taoyuan City 53.2%, Taichung City 63%, Tainan City 74.2%, Kaohsiung City 68.6%.

Chen Shizhong, head of the Epidemic Epidemic Command Center, said on the same day that he did not think the Dragon Boat Festival holiday would bring a new wave of epidemics.

Although the authorities did not take strict control measures, the number of tourists and traffic during the holiday was relatively quiet, and the flow of people was only about three-quarters of that when the control measures were in place in the same period last year.

Chen Shizhong also said that the peak of new confirmed diagnoses in Taiwan occurred at the end of May, and it is estimated that the death toll peaked in recent days; it is expected that after June 10, there will be an inflection point and the epidemic will gradually cool down.

Up to now, there are about 2,404,900 confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in Taiwan, of which about 2,391,700 are locally confirmed cases; the cumulative number of deaths is 2,939.
