The results of our impact on the environment, one of the basic pillars of sustainability, leads us as a society to become aware of the need, the options and the opportunities that we have at our disposal to ensure the environment for future generations.

In this sense, at Autopistas we have a Management System certified in ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 that helps us improve our environmental performance.

For years we have maintained a firm commitment to the sustainable and responsible use of resources, to caring for the natural environment that surrounds our highways and to complying with the principles of the hierarchy of waste generated in our activity.

As a company committed to sustainability, we periodically extend our message to our entire team, suppliers and society.

These are, in order of priority, the basic principles for a circular economy that takes care of the planet.

We encourage you to be your guide from now on.

Prevent:

sustainable use of natural resources and raw materials in the design and development of activities extends the useful life of products and helps to reduce the waste that can be generated, reducing adverse impacts and favoring people's health .

At Autopistas we make rational use of materials, including technical requirements in purchases and in the specifications for services and works, and managing the destination of the waste at the end of its useful life.

· Prepare for reuse

: before classifying a piece of waste as waste, assess whether you can repair it to extend its life or to give it a new use.

If it is cleaned or repaired and can still be used, it will not need to be thrown away.

Better change hands!

On our highways we have our own facilities that allow us to prepare waste for reuse in our own activity, repairing it as spare parts.

·Recycle:

transforming used products and materials into new ones is the ideal way to manage waste to protect the environment.

To facilitate recycling, the first thing is to know the waste, its type and where it should be deposited.

The main advantages of recycling are: energy savings and reduction of the carbon footprint, prevention of the depletion of natural resources and preservation and conservation of the environment.

Remember the importance of proper segregation!

At Autopistas we have had selective separation points for almost a decade which, together with the continuous training of our teams, allow us to achieve a high degree of recycling at the destination of the waste.

· Valorise:

give a useful purpose to the waste by using it as a raw material, substituting other materials in the manufacturing processes.

Valorization is very beneficial since it reduces contamination of soils, water and damage to fauna.

In our company, to combat the depletion of natural resources when the nature of the waste does not allow recycling, we deliver our waste to pre-treatment plants to guarantee its introduction into the manufacturing processes of new products, or even for power generation.

Eliminate:

when there is no option to recover or recycle a waste, we proceed to its elimination in authorized facilities.

The landfill, the last option for the destination of a waste.

Our efforts must be aimed at reducing the delivery of waste to landfills, only in this way will we avoid significant impacts on the environment.

At Autopistas we work with a philosophy of continuous improvement and one of the objectives in this area is to reduce waste sent to landfills, which is why we carry out regular analyzes of the destination of our waste and establish improvement plans, if necessary.

In short, the implementation of internal environmental management procedures, the continuous training of our teams and awareness campaigns aimed at suppliers, customers and society in general, largely focus our environmental strategy.
