Joint Chiefs of Staff said today (5th) that it had detected eight North Korean short-range ballistic missiles fired into the East Sea for 35 minutes from 9:08 am to 43 minutes.



There were four launch sites: Sunan in Pyongyang, Gaecheon in South Pyongan Province, Dongchang-ri in North Pyongan Province, and Hamheung in South Hamgyong Province, and two were fired each.



This is the first time that eight shots were fired one after another from multiple locations.



Eight missiles were detected at a flight range of 110 km to 670 km and an altitude of 25 km to 90 km.



In particular, today's missile launch is one day after the end of the joint South Korea-U.S. joint exercise mobilizing nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, and it is the third since the inauguration of the Yun Seok-Yeol government and the 18th this year.

The National Security Council and the NSC Standing Committee were held under the presidency of the Chief Executive Officer.



The participants said that North Korea's missile launch violates UN Security Council resolutions and urges the North Korean regime to realize as soon as possible that there is nothing to gain from nuclear and missile threats and to come out on a path of dialogue and cooperation.



President Yun Seok-yeol went to the presidential office to receive a report on the results of the meeting, and instructed him to continue strengthening the combined defense posture and extended deterrence capabilities, including South Korea-US missile defense training.



The chief representative of North Korea and the United States, who met at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, agreed to maintain close cooperation between the three countries by connecting the chief representative of the Japanese side by phone to hold a three-way consultation.
