Aragonese Pyrenees Dies while practicing base jumping by jumping from 500 meters
A 38-year-old mountaineer, a resident of
Barcelona
, died this Sunday after falling from a ridge in the Huesca municipality of
Sahún,
in the
Aragonese
Pyrenees .
The woman has been rescued alive, but, given the seriousness of the injuries, she has died while being transferred to
Benasque
by the Civil Guard helicopter.
The accident took place on the
Bardamina ridge,
3,079 meters high, where the mountaineer fell down a snowy slope towards the
Chelau de Llardanas ibón,
located in the
Posets-Maladeta Natural Park.
At noon this Sunday, 112 received the notice from the mountaineer's companion, informing the
Huesca Civil Guard
of the situation while explaining that he could not access the place where he had fallen.
The
Benasque Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group
has traveled to the indicated place in the helicopter of the
Civil Guard Air Unit
supported by a doctor from 061.
A specialist and the doctor have descended with the helicopter's crane while another agent evacuated the person who gave the warning, a 56-year-old man, also from Barcelona, who was in a frown, although unharmed.
The doctor has treated the victim on the ground at first and has stabilized her, as reported by the
Civil Guard,
before evacuating her to the Benasque helipad.
A 112 helicopter was waiting there for his transfer to a hospital.
However, due to the injuries he suffered, he finally passed away before being transferred to the hospital.
