• At each election, uninvolved people decide to maintain their candidacy against the advice of their party.

  • The leftwing alliance (Nupes) and the presidential coalition have thus provoked dozens of dissident candidacies for the ballot on 12th and 19th June next.

  • But will these differences really have an impact?

At each election, they are back.

The "dissidents", these candidates not invested by their party, are once again talking about them for the legislative elections of 12th and 19th June next.

Across the country, dozens of candidates have emerged to oppose the New People's Ecological and Social Union (Nupes), the alliance of rebels, environmentalists, socialists and communists.

But left-wing parties are not the only ones to see dissidence flourish.

The presidential coalition Together!

will also have to face "illegitimate" candidates, unhappy at not having been appointed to defend Emmanuel Macron's project.

"In the legislative elections, a dissident, that's 4% with all sails out"

Within the staffs, it is a puzzle.

Renaissance (ex-LREM) multiplies press releases to justify that such and such a candidate has indeed been officially appointed.

A task all the more delicate as certain "dissidents" of the presidential party do not hesitate to slip the photo of Emmanuel Macron on their leaflets or their posters.

“It must be useful and effective to claim the majority and to put the photo of the president, since even those who do not have the nomination do it”, squeals Valérie Thomas, outgoing LREM deputy from Puy-de-Dome .

The battles led by the dissidents are sometimes highly publicized, as in the 5th district of the French abroad (Andorra, Spain, Monaco, Portugal).

The outgoing deputy, Stéphane Vojetta,

There is a headwind against the "parachuting" of former Prime Minister Manuel Valls, invested by the presidential party.

The recent Republican defector Eric Woerth, in the Oise, or the former Minister Delegate for Gender Equality Elisabeth Moreno, in the 9th of the French abroad, will also have disappointed walkers facing them.

The large presidential coalition (LREM, Horizons, MoDem, In common, Agir, Territoire de Progrès, Parti Radical, Progressive Federation) has indeed forced the parties to distribute the nominations, causing some frustration among local activists.

A total of 87 LREM members were excluded from the movement after an executive office on Wednesday evening, because they were facing an invested candidate, according to a list consulted by franceinfo on Thursday.

But Erwan Balanant, outgoing MoDem deputy from Finistère, puts their weight in the ballot into perspective.

“In the legislative elections, a dissident, that's 4% with all sails out.

It takes a few points in the first round, but I think it will remain marginal.

The union of the left more annoyed by the dissidents?

The left-wing alliance torn off in May, despite a stormy presidential campaign, has, as we have said, also caused frustration.

The socialist boss of the Occitania region Carole Delga, the former Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve and even François Hollande have supported on the ground in recent weeks socialists excluded from the Nupes agreement yet validated by the national council of the party.

“We are for the union of the left.

And the main objective is to beat the Macronist candidates.

But in this hegemonic agreement for Mélenchon, the account is not there for the PS, so I support the socialist candidacies ”, thus defends the senator from Val d’Oise Rachid Temal.

"The dissidents, it's anecdotal, nobody talks to me about them on the ground", said the rebellious Danielle Simonnet to us on Wednesday evening during a meeting, while the candidate invested by Nupes in the 15th Parisian district will face the former PS MP Lamia El Aaraje.

About sixty socialist dissidents have thus decided to maintain their candidacy, particularly in New Aquitaine and Occitania.

A subject that seems to annoy the rebellious executives, who did not respond to our requests for this article.

A month ago, during the presentation of the unitary agreement on the left, Jean-Luc Mélenchon had for his part castigated “those who present candidates against the Popular Union”, qualifying them as “Macronist candidates”.

But beyond personal cases, will these dissidences have a real impact during the election?

“At the national level, the score of dissidence remains marginal.

We estimated in our last survey the weight of various left at around 4%, and that of various right at 1%, answers Frédéric Dabi, Director General Opinion of Ifop.

It doesn't seem like much, but the few missing points could prevent Nupes from being symbolically in the lead over the whole territory on the evening of the first round.

Above all, in certain constituencies, these kinds of internal primaries on the left could prevent qualification ”.

In the event of strong abstention on June 12, there will be almost no triangular.

Only the two candidates who arrived in the lead on the evening of the first round will be able to maintain themselves in the second.
