"Abbot is resuming infant formula production today at its Sturgis, Michigan facility following initial FDA-approved requirements," Abbot said in a statement on its website.

The first batches of infant formula from the factory are expected to hit the market on June 20.

“We will increase production as quickly as we can while meeting all requirements,” the company said.

Earlier, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that military transport aviation began to urgently import baby food from Europe to the United States.

At the same time, New York Mayor Eric Adams signed a decree declaring a state of emergency in the city due to a shortage of infant formula.

The US Department of Health will conduct an investigation into the actions of the Food Control Administration (FDA), which provoked a nationwide shortage of infant formula.
