Carles Puigdemont has put an end to the leadership of the party he founded, Junts Per Catalunya, without forgetting to attack the Government.

Precisely, one of the reasons for the creation of this political formation was to achieve the independence of Catalonia for which they have always urged a direct confrontation with the State but always from a theoretical level, without actually executing it.

For this reason, Puigdemont's farewell at the congress that JxCat is holding in Argelès-sur-Mer (France) has had a lot of vindication from the escaped independence leaders, to highlight the "repression" of the State, without forgetting that the sovereignty movement goes through an evident phase of discouragement and division.

Precisely, Puigdemont alerted his successors in the party, the president of the Parliament, Laura Borràs, and the former Minister Jordi Turull, that "in the face of so much confusion, resignations, divisions, discouragement and demobilization, Junts can be recognized, being in the Government or in the opposition, as the political tool that, despite having everything against it, without rights, with silences and boycotts, remains committed and useful to complete the independence process".

Being a party in need of an antagonist, the former Catalan president, who is not running for re-election, did not hesitate to attack the Government of Pedro Sánchez since he believes that "it systematically lies and fails to comply, but not to all Spaniards, but especially the Catalans, because he considers them and will consider them second or third class citizens".

"He is punishing all of us Catalans because we maintain the pro-independence majority. He is campaigning for Salvador Illa in a dirty way: as long as we vote badly and not for the correct candidate, they will not give us what we deserve, they will not treat us first class", highlighted.

As it could not be otherwise, Puigdemont attacked the judiciary by regretting the decision of the Supreme Court (TS) to study the appeals filed against the pardons of independence leaders convicted of sedition and stated that "it is not normal to have judges who seem like a extension of the Vox parliamentary group".

He also accused them of "harassing Catalan-speakers, as in the worst times, with the intention of reducing Catalan to the domestic sphere, and not to a State language, as it is", by the orders of the TSJC to apply a minimum of 25 % of Spanish in the classrooms.

"Some settle in normality, reconciliation and a pacification that allows them to get by if they want to strengthen a party and prioritize the well-being of its cadres. But it has catastrophic consequences for citizens," Puigdemont assured in a clear reference to ERC, party with which he shares the Government, but his main political rival in the municipal elections a year from now to keep the sovereignist vote.

And it is that Junts also has its reverse in the Republicans.

In addition, he regretted that some involved in 1-O have to live outside of Spain and believes that it is a situation that will last over time and that it cannot be normalized.

"It is not normal that we have spent four and a half years coming and going from Brussels, Geneva, Waterloo and wherever. What is not normal is having to go visit someone in Waterloo. What is normal and decent is to visit so that you don't feel alone, so that you feel well accompanied," he said.

"It is in exile where many of the things that the State would like liquidated are preserved, as that vice president of infamous memory said," concluded the former Catalan president.

For his part, the general secretary of Junts, Jordi Sànchez, who is also leaving office, asked the independence movement to recover the "strategic unity" that he considers broken and assured that "in the current conditions there is no possibility of dialogue" with the Government.

In this sense, he considers that Junts must have the capacity to govern and to urge the population to mobilize to achieve independence.

That is why he asked for this unit "to make it possible for Catalonia to once again play what it had in the fall of 2017".

However, he did not forget that the party must also be strong in the Congress of Deputies, since they do not give up any representation despite demanding secession.
