深刻阐明发展与保护的关系，提出绿水青山就是金山银山的科学理念；
深刻阐明环境与民生的关系，提出良好生态环境是最普惠的民生福祉的重大论断；
深刻阐明自然生态各要素之间的关系，提出山水林田湖草沙是生命共同体的系统思想……
一系列原创性的新理念新思想新战略陆续提出、落地生根，系统形成习近平生态文明思想。
作为习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的重要组成部分，习近平生态文明思想既贯穿着马克思主义的世界观和方法论，又承载着中华文明独特基因和鲜明民族特色，是党领导人民推进生态文明建设取得的标志性、创新性、战略性重大理论成果。
“习近平生态文明思想继承和发展马克思主义关于人与自然关系的思想，实现了对社会主义生态文明建设规律认识的新跃升，指明了人与自然和谐共生的现代化道路的新图景，科学指引新时代美丽中国建设开创新局面。”中共中央党校(国家行政学院)社会和生态文明教研部生态文明建设教研室主任李宏伟表示。
习近平生态文明思想研究中心主任钱勇说：“习近平生态文明思想凝结着对发展人类文明、建设清洁美丽世界的深刻思考，在全球大国治国理政实践中独树一帜，彰显了中国特色、战略眼光和世界价值。”
源浚者流长，根深者叶茂。
从小村庄到中南海，从农村大队党支部书记到党的总书记，习近平一直在思考人与自然的关系，孜孜探寻可持续发展之路。
“我对生态环境工作历来看得很重。在正定、厦门、宁德、福建、浙江、上海等地工作期间，都把这项工作作为一项重大工作来抓。”
在黄土高原，造淤地坝、发展沼气，组织带领群众改善生产生活条件。青年习近平在延安梁家河村劳动生活多年，当时那个地区的生态环境曾因过度开发而受到严重破坏，老百姓生活也陷于贫困，“我从那时起就认识到，人与自然是生命共同体，对自然的伤害最终会伤及人类自己”。
在福建工作，五下长汀，走山村、访农户，摸实情、谋对策，推进水土流失治理。去年3月在福建考察，得知长汀昔日童山已成绿色家园，总书记动情回忆往事：“我给大家讲，给生态投了钱，看似不像开发建设一样养鸡生蛋，但这件事必须抓。抓到最后却是养了金鸡、生了金蛋。”
在浙江主政，着力创建生态省，打造“绿色浙江”。“千万工程”惠及万千群众，获得联合国最高环境荣誉“地球卫士奖”。在安吉余村，首提“绿水青山就是金山银山”。2020年3月，15年后再访余村，总书记感慨系之：时间如梭，当年的情景历历在目，这次来看完全不一样了，美丽乡村建设在余村变成了现实。
无论躬耕基层，还是领航中国，始终扎根中华大地，始终心怀“国之大者”，始终坚持人民至上。习近平生态文明思想，一步步在实践中形成、丰富和发展。
(五)党领导人民成功走出中国式现代化道路，创造了人类文明新形态，生态文明建设既是重要组成部分，也是鲜明标识标杆
“中国现代化是绝无仅有、史无前例、空前伟大的。”
十年前这次考察，至今让人铭记。
2012年12月，党的十八大后首次出京考察，习近平总书记来到改革开放先行地广东。总书记深刻阐述现代化进程中的生态文明建设：
“我们建设现代化国家，走美欧老路是走不通的，再有几个地球也不够中国人消耗。”“走老路，去消耗资源，去污染环境，难以为继！”
有人算过这样一笔账：如果在全球维持一个像美国这样的物质社会，将需要5个地球的资源。中国，需要走出一条自己的路。
中国现代化不是西方现代化的“翻版”，这既是历史选择，也是时代必然。强调“以人民为中心”，追求人与自然和谐共生，中国式现代化，就是要防止和克服西方传统现代化伴生的物质主义膨胀、生态恶化等弊病。
我们没有走西方“先污染、后治理”的老路。人与自然和谐共生的现代化道路，锚定的是绿水青山和金山银山双赢。
“文明如果是自发地发展，而不是自觉地发展，则留给自己的是荒漠。”面对突飞猛进的工业文明，马克思曾发出警告。
蒸汽机的发明，打开工业文明时代的大门。人类在创造巨大物质财富的同时，也加速了对自然资源的攫取，造成人与自然关系紧张。洛杉矶光化学烟雾事件，伦敦烟雾事件，日本水俣病事件……上个世纪，西方国家发生“世界八大公害事件”，“损失巨大，震惊世界，引发了人们对资本主义发展模式的深刻反思”。
按下绿色发展快进键，进入生态文明建设快车道，新时代中国走出一条新路。以绿色为底色的中国式现代化，摈弃传统工业文明“大量生产、大量消耗、大量排放”的模式，踏上了经济发展和生态环境保护共赢之路。
走向生态文明新时代的中国，对传统工业文明进行扬弃，以宏大格局、鲜明主张、扎实行动，共建清洁美丽的世界。
不同的道路选择，来自中华文化和西方文化的价值差异。
在中华文化中，与自然相处，追求的是“天人合一”“道法自然”；与世界相处，追求的是“天下大同”“美美与共”。中华文明虽是工业文明的迟到者，但始终保有着生态智慧。中国式现代化，谋求的是共建美好世界的最大公约数。
不同的道路选择，源于中国共产党人矢志不渝的天下情怀。
大道之行，天下为公。从“中国应当对于人类有较大的贡献”，到“国家总的力量就大了，可以为人类做更多的事情”，再到“中国人民不仅要自己过上好日子，还追求天下大同”，中国共产党人的天下情怀始终如一，日益坚实。
坚持胸怀天下，中国为人类可持续发展作出积极贡献。
一部人类文明的发展史，就是一部人与自然的关系史。
习近平总书记指出：“生态文明是人类社会进步的重大成果。人类经历了原始文明、农业文明、工业文明，生态文明是工业文明发展到一定阶段的产物，是实现人与自然和谐发展的新要求。”
今天，中华民族迎来了从站起来、富起来到强起来的伟大飞跃，社会主义中国以更加雄伟的身姿屹立于世界东方。生产发展、生活富裕、生态良好的文明发展道路，越走越宽广。
生态环境大提质。十年呵护，绿水青山越来越美——
蓝天白云重新展现，绿色版图不断扩展，绿色经济加快发展，城乡环境更加宜居，地球家园增添更多“中国绿”。社会主义中国，成为全球生态文明建设的重要参与者、贡献者、引领者。
生产发展大提高。十年浇灌，金山银山越做越大——
经济总量从2012年的51万亿多元增长到去年的逾114万亿元，中国经济对世界经济增长的贡献率总体上保持在30%左右，是世界经济增长的最大引擎。
