Barely opened on Friday, June 3, the trial of François Beya, former special adviser to President Félix Tshisekedi on security, was postponed for a week.

 " is tried by the High Military Court, accused of having "

He had remained in the service of the president despite the break at the end of 2020 between the latter and his predecessor, Joseph Kabila.

The trial opened shortly after 10 a.m. (local time).

The defendants were identified, followed by the reading of the charges against them.

In images shared by the court's communication service, we see

in a prisoner's outfit: a blue tunic with yellow embroidery.

Glasses in his eyes, part of his face covered by a mask, he displayed a serene air.

At the request of the defence, the High Court adjourned the hearing to June 10.

This period should allow defense lawyers to scrutinize the 525 documents in the file.

His lawyers have submitted a request for provisional release: they also want the trial to be publicized, even if for this first hearing, journalists have been denied access.

The relatives of François Beya have constantly denounced a false file against the backdrop of a war within the presidential palace.

The lawyers should ask Friday, June 10, the prerequisites for the conduct of the trial.
