It was just after the family photo of the heads of state present at the ECOWAS summit here in Accra that the Senegalese president announced, aside, to a small group of journalists: "

I will go to Kiev

", in other words, by implying that he had to meet the two parties in conflict.

After seeing Putin, Macky Sall should therefore also meet Zelensky.

The Senegalese president did not indicate a date.

Even if he said he was reassured after his three-hour meeting with Vladimir Putin, in Sochi, including lunch, he points out that it is not yet won.

He believes that we must also speak to the Western partners who have taken sanctions against Russia.

In concluding the brief aside, the Senegalese president made it clear that "

there is still work to

be done ". Mediation must be continued to hope for immediate responses to the grievances formulated on behalf of African countries.

Macky Sall, who arrived from Sochi in the early hours of this Saturday, is present in Accra with a dozen heads of state from West Africa, perhaps the occasion for an informal debriefing.
