“It is the European Union, by imposing or planning to introduce unilateral sanctions on Russian energy supplies, that is politicizing the energy sector, trying to use the interdependence of consumers and energy suppliers as an instrument of political pressure,” the materials on the Russian Foreign Ministry website say.

It is noted that by doing so, the countries of the European Union damage their own economy and the socio-economic well-being of their citizens, as well as destabilize the situation in the world energy markets.

The department said that the decision of the EU authorities to partially ban the import of Russian oil and petroleum products to the EU indicates the unwillingness of the European Union to abandon this "vicious practice."

At the same time, as reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry, there are no real alternatives to Russian energy resources on the European market in the near future.

On June 3, the European Union finally approved the sixth package of sanctions against Russia.

The new sanctions package, in particular, provides for a partial and gradual waiver of oil imports from Russia.

Leading analyst of the National Energy Security Fund, expert of the Financial University Igor Yushkov, in an interview with URA.RU, commented on the situation with oil supplies to the EU against the backdrop of sanctions against Russia.
