Many weapons, in particular of war, and more than a ton of ammunition... An "impressive" quantity of weapons according to the prosecutor of Mulhouse Edwige Roux-Morizot (Haut-Rhin) was found in four members of the movement of ultra-right during a dragnet in Alsace on Tuesday.

A lot of material even if no sign of acting out has been detected for the moment, the prosecutor said on Friday.

Two of the four men who were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the case have been indicted for arms trafficking and imprisoned.

The other two were released under judicial supervision.

They face ten years in prison.

A veritable arsenal

"The home visits were particularly fruitful," said the prosecutor.

In addition to the weapons themselves, ie 18 legal weapons and 23 illegal weapons, as well as 167 magazines including 72 Kalashnikovs, more than 35 kg of powder were discovered.

But also three ammunition presses, a large number of magazines for weapons of war, a casing heating machine, a banknote counter, four precision scales, more than 25,000 euros and two silencers.

Lieutenant-Colonel Yann Wanson, second in command of the Strasbourg research section, points out that the quantities of ammunition are “so enormous that we speak rather in terms of weight than quantity”.

This represents "a minimum of 120,000 munitions of all calibers, but many intended for weapons of war", for a total weight of more than one tonne.

People “integrated” and “without any difficulty”

The suspects are "integrated" people, who work, "without any difficulty", "citizens like the others" in appearance, aged 45 to 53, continued the prosecutor.

They belong to a small group of neo-Nazis, "which has been totally confirmed by the important literature found" among the suspects.

One of the suspects "practised long-range shooting" in a club "with training courses" as a sniper, Lieutenant-Colonel Wanson further noted.

“It is the risk of seeing them switch to acting out which required” the intervention of the authorities, specified the prosecutor, even if no element could for the moment support any concrete project.

Computer media were also seized, which will be analyzed to determine if an attack project was fomented.
