EU-European Union member states have formally agreed on additional sanctions on Russia, including a ban on the import of Russian oil, and imports of oil transported by ship will be banned eight months after the sanctions are enforced. Will be done.

The EU announced on the 3rd that member states have officially agreed on additional sanctions on Russia, which was politically agreed at the summit meeting on the 30th of last month.

Regarding the import ban on Russian oil, the immediate target is limited to oil carried by ship, and as a general rule, crude oil will be imported 6 months after the sanctions are enforced, and refined petroleum products will be imported 8 months later. It is prohibited.

In addition, in order to make it difficult to export to countries other than the EU, insurance for shipping Russian oil by sea will be prohibited after 6 months.

According to the EU, last year the EU imported a total of 71 billion euros, or 9.8 trillion yen in Japanese yen, from Russia.

The sanctions will reduce imports by about 90%, and EU Foreign Minister Josep Borrell Fonta said, "We will further limit the financial strength of the Russian government, which continues the war."

In addition, the sanctions will add about 80 types of chemical products that can be used to manufacture chemical weapons to the target of banning exports from the EU to Russia, as well as being involved in the killing of civilians in Ukraine's Bucha and Mariupol. We are adding the asset freeze in the EU of Russian military officials.
