A man was indicted on Tuesday for kidnapping and forcible confinement in Orne, after confessing, 33 years later, to having strangled his wife, without the wife's body having been found, we learned. Friday with the Alençon prosecutor's office.

A disappearance reported in 2021

The disappearance of the woman was not “reported” until 2021, “by her two children, now adults, the facts dating back to 1989”, specifies Annabelle Guignard, deputy prosecutor of Alençon in a press release confirming information revealed by the daily Ouest-France.

The prosecution had been seized for worrying disappearance on September 15, 2021.

Memories that come back

According to Ouest-France, the children who had become adults were six months and three years old in 1989. “During their hearings, memories come back to them where their father” now 62 years old “mentioned, a handful of times, having killed their mother,” writes the regional daily.

At the time of the events, the spouse had "told anyone who will listen" that his wife had a lover and that she had had to "flee with him", adds the newspaper.

According to the prosecution, "the first elements of the investigation" preliminary, opened in October 2021 for worrying disappearance, "highlighted a range of clues suggesting that the young woman had not left of her own free will".

The mother of his children

Placed in police custody on Monday, the suspect "from his first hearing admitted having strangled" his wife, said the prosecution.

Still, according to Ouest-France, he explained that he used a "wire from a telephone" to kill the mother of his children, and then buried the body.

"The judge of freedoms and detention has issued an order of placement under judicial supervision", according to the press release, which specifies that the prosecution has appealed this order.
