The United States will build more than 100 military facilities for various purposes on the territory of Poland within ten years.

This was stated by the United States Ambassador to the Eastern European Republic Marek Brzezinski at the launch ceremony for the construction of warehouses for American ammunition in Powidzie.

“Over the next ten years, more than 110 construction projects are planned,” the TASS ambassador quoted the words.

According to him, they are needed "to seriously increase military readiness."

"Today's groundbreaking ceremony is just one of eight planned in Poland this summer," Brzezinski said.

He added that military construction speaks of the readiness of the United States and Poland to jointly respond to threats, and he called the warehouses that will be located in Powidzia a "deterrent element."

According to Brzezinski, “we (Poland and the USA. -

) are united, we are together, and this message is very well heard and understood in Russia.”

The construction of ammunition depots in Powidzia is part of the readiness action plan approved at the NATO summit in Wales in 2014.

This plan also provides for the construction of complexes for the storage of weapons and equipment.

A total of 56 warehouses will be built, of which 51 will be occupied by the Americans and five by the Polish military.

The Polish Ministry of Defense reports that the infrastructure created as part of this project will allow the rapid deployment of additional combat capabilities in the form of completed forces of NATO allies in Central and Eastern Europe.

Favorite "client"

In recent years, Poland has been actively developing defense cooperation with the United States, which, in addition to hosting the US military infrastructure, is expressed in large purchases of weapons from the Pentagon and the American military-industrial complex.

Thus, from 2015 to 2019, the United States sold $861 million worth of military equipment to Poland, including vehicles, gas turbine engines, fire control systems, and laser guidance systems.

In March 2018, Poland signed a contract to purchase Patriot air defense systems from the American defense concern Raytheon for $4.75 billion. In 2020, another contract was signed for $4.6 billion - now for the purchase and maintenance of 32 F-35A Lightning fighters .

Also, the Polish authorities plan to purchase 500 HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems from the Americans in the amount of $411 million.

The State Department estimates the portfolio of orders for the purchase of weapons, military equipment and equipment for Warsaw at $15.66 billion. It also includes Javelin anti-tank systems, AIM-120C-7 air-to-air missiles, maintenance for F-16 fighters, and so on.

All this makes Warsaw "an important strategic ally in Central Europe", which "cooperates with the United States on international platforms to promote stability and security in the region and beyond," the US Foreign Office notes.

At the same time, Washington does not hide the fact that such enhanced military cooperation with Poland is directed against Russia.

“The United States and Poland are working together to maintain a forward presence to protect the alliance and counter a Russia that continues to undermine the rules-based international order.

The United States leads the Enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group (NATO. -

) in Poland and deploys an armored brigade combat group on a rotational basis as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, funded by the European Deterrence Initiative, ”the State Department stressed.

In addition, Warsaw and Washington signed two joint declarations in 2019 listing planned locations for a reinforced US military presence in Poland, and in 2020 they signed an Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA).

Today, about 4,500 American servicemen are stationed in Poland on a rotational basis.

In March, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken visited the republic and said that cooperation between the two countries had reached a new level.

“I think it's safe to say that defense cooperation between Poland and the United States as NATO allies is closer than ever.

And we have greatly increased the number and variety of military equipment and capabilities deployed in Poland,” the head of US diplomacy said.

Anti-Russian direction

Political scientists state that by expanding the American military presence on its territory, Poland is actually giving up its own subjectivity.

“The US Ambassador, in fact, said that Washington will continue the colonization of this country, because the deployment of military bases on the territory of another state on such a scale is possible only in this case.

The interests of the United States will be higher than the national interests of Poland, on whose land American bases are located, ”military expert Viktor Litovkin explained in an interview with RT.

However, according to him, the Polish side is impressed by this state of affairs.

“Moreover, President Duda once persuaded Donald Trump to place an American base in Poland and promised to pay $2 billion for it, because Poland, apparently, really wants to be a US colony,” says Litovkin.

He recalled that in recent years, Poland has made no secret of its intention to become the most significant US ally in Europe and to raise its own status in the North Atlantic Alliance.

“Thus, the Polish authorities are trying to achieve the opportunity to influence other countries in Europe without providing anything in return.

Being Washington's favorite, Poland will be able to impose its policy on anyone, and it will get nothing for it, ”the analyst believes.

Leading expert of the RISS Research Coordination Center Sergey Ermakov, in turn, noted that the current policy of the United States in the Polish direction has become a continuation of the US strategy to contain Russia.

“All these actions clearly fit into the plans of Washington and NATO for the so-called containment, but in reality, counteraction to Russia.

Recently, the United States has been systematically increasing both its military budget and spending, the bulk of which is intended to counter the Russian Federation.

With this money, the American command in Europe is developing military infrastructure, increasing the potential and strength of its armed forces, which are stationed there on a permanent basis, ”the expert explained.

According to him, the main task of the US military in Europe and the entire NATO has been and will be countering Russia, as American military leaders openly declare.

“Therefore, the priority is the eastern flank and the allies who most actively support the United States in these efforts - the Baltic States and Poland.

In the same context, it is worth considering plans to drag the northern countries - Sweden and Finland into the bloc.

All this is done solely for the purpose of "containment" of Russia," Yermakov stressed.
