The Director of Umm Al Quwain Municipality, Falaj Al Mualla Branch, Maitha Jassim Shafi, said that the municipality is in the process of intensifying its efforts to reduce the risks of stray animals scattered on internal and external roads to reduce losses resulting from accidents caused by these animals, as part of an awareness campaign to reveal the risks posed by the presence of stray animals on the roads. She explained that a law on stray animals, monitoring, licensing, owning cats and dogs, and how to dispose, will be applied, which included eight articles, the most prominent of which is “All owners of livestock, sheep and camels must keep their animals inside the planned pens and not leave them loose without a shepherd, and they may only be transported by special transport vehicles. Far from residential areas and in places determined by the competent authority.

She added that the department will implement an awareness campaign for the city's residents focusing on the dangers of the presence of loose animals on the roads and within residential areas, where Falaj Al Mualla suffers from the phenomenon of loose animals, especially camels on public and highways, which causes negative effects, including traffic accidents caused by animals rushing to the roads, surprise drivers and interception. Vehicle movement, confusing the traffic situation, as well as distorting the general view.

She indicated that some road users are cooperating by reporting the presence of stray animals through the general control number, after which the specialists in the municipality take the necessary measures, calling on the concerned authorities to intensify their efforts and organize campaigns to urge citizens who own animals to establish private pens far from public places. and roads and forcing them to graze in designated grazing places far from public places, calling for everyone’s cooperation with the competent authorities to preserve the environment and the lives of community members.
