The sky of the Tour d'Occitanie clears.

The administrative court of Toulouse has indeed validated in a decision rendered on Wednesday the building permit issued by the metropolis to the private developer of this "skyscraper" 150 meters high.

It had been seized by four associations and three individuals who disputed the scope of the environmental studies carried out, the absence of parking space for two-wheelers, the small part reserved for social housing or even pointed out the inconvenience caused by the dimensions of this building which should dominate the renovated quarter of the Matabiau station.

The judges rejected all of the grievances of the opponents of the Tour d'Occitanie, considering in particular that "the town planning rules applicable in the area" were not "tainted by misuse of power".

Forty floors

The "architectural gesture" that constitutes this 40-storey building, built by the promoter La Compagnie de Phalsbourg, is defended by Jean-Luc Moudenc (LR), the mayor of Toulouse.

The tower must shelter, with its spiral facades, vegetated from top to bottom, was designed by the American architect Daniel Libeskind.

It should house 11,000 m2 of offices, a hundred housing units, shops as well as a hotel and a panoramic restaurant-bar at its summit.

Critics of the skyscraper can still appeal the court's decision.
