Teen arrested for trying to recruit students to carry out mass murder at an American school

In a continuation of the series of violence that hits American schools, the media said yesterday that a 16-year-old was arrested this week by police for trying to recruit students for a mass shooting at Berkeley High School in California.

Local TV reported that the suspect was arrested on May 30, with initial information received the previous Saturday.

In a press release, the Berkeley Police Department said officers arrested the unnamed 16-year-old after receiving information alleging he was "recruiting other high school students to participate in a mass shooting and/or bombing at Berkeley High School."

Police said the 16-year-old tried to recruit students for the Berkeley High shooting that would also have involved explosives.

According to Complex, a residence search warrant was obtained and executed after the initial tip, and police later said the list of recovered items included "explosive parts," assault rifles, knives, and more.

The news comes in the wake of the shooting at a school in Ovaldi, Texas.

19 children and two adults were killed.

And American media criticized the slow response of the police at the time, despite the many calls for help issued by the victims in the latest attack.
