The Russian author Vera Efron has lived in Sweden since the 80s.
She says that she has experienced a markedly negative attitude towards Russians since the invasion of Ukraine.
- I spoke on the phone in Russian and met a woman who was looking at me.
I passed her and then she turned around and spat at me.
I was completely appalled, says Vera Efron.
- Even my close acquaintances, even if they do not mean me, often speak in very aggressive terms about Russians.
Vera and a longtime friend even resigned after an angry quarrel over the war.
