Poland warns Ukrainian refugees: Spend on yourselves, there is no free money anymore

On Wednesday, the Polish authorities issued a warning to Ukrainian refugees on its territory about stopping the payments of daily allowances and wages to them.

The announcement was made by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration and the Government's representative for refugees, Pavel Schevernaker, and was reported by the Rzeczpospolita newspaper.

"Most Ukrainian refugees in Poland will lose their daily allowance and the decision will take effect on July 1," Schwernaker said.

He added, "Only those who need it will continue to receive the benefit. We are talking about people with disabilities, as well as pregnant women and women who have many children."

According to the newspaper, the authorities plan to encourage the refugees to start earning and providing for their own needs.

"This decision shows to some extent that the support is coming to an end, and it is time to return to Ukraine," Polish expert Piotr Dlogosz told the newspaper.
