“Firstly, the Kremlin issued a stern warning that a new round of alliance expansion would entail serious consequences,” Xianju said.

Other measures include steps to further strengthen the role of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in the world, as well as to deepen Russia's cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

“Some analysts believe that in the context of the aggravation of the conflict between Russia and the United States with Europe and the further expansion of NATO, cooperation between the CSTO and the SCO may extend to more areas in the future,” Xianju explained.

He called the fourth countermeasure the multilateral development of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) by Russia under sanctions.

The deputy secretary general of the alliance, Mircea Geoana, said earlier that in connection with the special operation carried out by Russia in Ukraine, NATO has no restrictions on creating strong positions on the eastern flank.

Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Grigory Mashkov noted that it would not be possible to restore the system of European security destroyed by the West on the same terms.
