- It feels fun and wonderful that we have come this far and can see how the work of the Inner Harbor is growing, says Elke Myrhede who is project manager for the environment in the Inner Harbor.
There have been work environment problems
During the work, problems have been encountered when it comes to pollution.
- This has been one of the most polluted areas in Östergötland, but not anymore.
What problems have you encountered so far?
- We are close to Motala Ström with a lot of water.
We have had a lot of problems with odor and it has been a work environment problem for those who have worked with decontamination.
Now that you are demolishing Eon's facility, you think you will need two more years - until you have completely cleaned up everything.
- It was on the gas plant's furnaces where they heated the coal to gasify it.
We expect it to be fairly polluted, says Elke Myrhede.
Jonas Lind, who is production manager at E.on, is looking forward to seeing the new residential area grow.
- It is a milestone in our history, that we tear here now.
It feels a bit nostalgic too.
It will be very exciting to see how a new residential area develops.
