Searches were carried out on Tuesday May 24 in no less than eleven farms located in Savoie.

They follow an investigation opened in March 2021 relating to the poisoning of several wild animals, reports France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.

In the space of a few weeks, two wolves and two bearded vultures, protected species, were indeed found dead in the Vanoise national park.

The animals were reportedly poisoned with insecticides.

Farmers denounce “agri-bashing”

The product was from the carbamate family, according to the analyzes carried out on the corpses.

It is a substance banned in the European Union since 2008. Other animals, unprotected ones, were also found dead.

The investigation continues to find out who had spread this product.

For their part, the farmers have denounced an "agri-bashing" and deny any responsibility in this case of poisoning.

For a long time, relations between farmers, hunters and authorities have proved difficult due to the presence of wolves, which endanger farms.

In 2020, more than 3,000 farm animals were killed by wolves in the Alps.
