A 31-year-old man was tried Monday by the criminal court of Isère, in Grenoble, for two rapes committed in the middle of the street on a young woman of 27 years.

The facts took place on the night of August 2 to 3, 2019. According to Le Dauphiné Libéré, the defendant had already been convicted five times in the past, including twice for acts of sexual assault.

Eight years in prison

After more than two years in pre-trial detention, the 30-year-old continued to deny the rapes.

At the time, the victim explained that he had met him at Grenoble station.

They discussed several hours in a park before a first rape was committed in the recess of a building, then another a few hundred meters further.

The following day, the investigators had found a condom which had enabled them to identify the suspect.

The latter affirmed that the young woman was consenting.

Conversely, it had evoked a physical and moral constraint.

Found guilty of rape, the man was sentenced to eight years in prison.
