A 1.2 tonne bull which was wandering Wednesday in Plourin-lès-Morlaix (Finistère) was recovered.

But it took a whole day to get there, reports

.

Two-year-old Salers escaped in the morning from the truck that was to take him to the slaughterhouse.

The animal risk unit of Morlaix and Quimper as well as five gendarmes from the Plourin-lès-Morlaix company participated in the search to prevent the imposing bull from wandering on the road or injuring walkers.

Many means had to be deployed, first to spot him and then to bring him back to the farm.

A hypodermic arrow to put the animal to sleep

It was a drone that made it possible to locate the animal in a field.

The rescuers first tried to lure the bull with a heifer before deciding to dispatch a veterinarian from Quintin, in the Côtes-d'Armor.

He was able to fire a hypodermic arrow at the animal.

Farmers did not have to use firefighters' equipment.

The somewhat stunned bull returned to his stable by himself.

By 9 p.m., he was safe there.
