According to reports, Zelensky said in an interview with US media, "The situation in eastern (Ukraine) is very tense, we will lose 60 to 100 soldiers every day, and about 500 people are injured in battles."

Zelensky also said Russia had "blocked grain shipments" in the Black Sea.

"Currently, Russia has blocked 22.5 million tons of grain," Zelensky said.

He also said that in order to break through the blockade, Ukraine needs weapons with an effective range of 120 to 140 kilometers.

Zelensky insisted that the weapons would be used in Ukraine and would not involve Russian territory.

A day earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden said the U.S. would not send Ukraine a long-range rocket system that could hit Russian soil.
