2020 brought an

online

protest party

.

2021, a small demonstration without floats or a stage, with restricted capacity and a mandatory mask.

This

2022

, with the Covid under control,

Madrid Gay Pride

returns in all its essence.

Two million people are expected to attend the central act of the festival, the

demonstration , where more than

50 floats

from different institutions and organizations will

parade, adding a color note to the claim.

The

parade

will take place on

July 9

(this year it is delayed a week due to the NATO summit) although the celebrations of

the LGTBIQ+ collective

will run from Friday, July 1 to Sunday, July 10.

There will be no lack of the traditional heels race or the election of Mr. Gay Pride Spain.

Although it is too soon to know other details - who will give the proclamation, for example - it is known that this year

Plaza de España

will be the epicenter of the festivities before the works in Sol. There will also be concerts in

Plaza de Pedro Zerolo, Plaza del Rey and Shut up

.

In the absence of a month for the LGTBIQ + Pride, the

controversy

is served.

The placement of the

rainbow flag

on the facade of the Palacio de Cibeles and the

noise

caused by the concerts in the center of the capital during those days -taking into account that it is a Special Acoustic Protection Zone (ZPAE)- resonated this Tuesday at the headquarters of the Madrid City Council.

In the case of the multicolor banner,

Almeida assured that, like last year, it will not be placed

following the resolution of the Supreme Court, which only allows official ones to be placed.

However, his government partner,

Ciudadanos, voted in favor of placing it

alongside Más Madrid, Recupera Madrid and PSOE.

Sources from the

orange

party even pointed out

a posteriori

that in their presentation they had been opposed to placing it but that they voted in favor because they agreed with the rest of the proposal.

With regard to

noise from concerts

, it will return to the model prior to 2019, according to the Environment and Mobility Area.

The City Council will increase the limits allowed during specific hours as it happens with other massive events in the center.
