The fight against hatred is gradually bearing fruit in the courts, no longer making social networks territories of impunity.

Latest example, the passage this Wednesday of a user before the 17th chamber of the Paris Criminal Court.

He is accused, according to information from Le

Parisien

, of having mentioned in particular "whipping" and "cotton fields" that Kylian Mbappé deserved in a tweet published after the loss of the Blues match against Switzerland during the Euro 2021.

The PSG striker had missed his shot on goal, and had drawn the wrath of many supporters.

Among these unpleasant messages, several racist comments had been identified and then brought to justice by the associations SOS Racisme and Sportitude.

The two associations are also civil parties to the hearing.

“Faced with the feeling of impunity that affects a large number of users on Twitter, we expect an exemplary sanction.

Racist hatred, on the networks as elsewhere, must not go unpunished,” they say.

The account on which the tweet implicated in this case had been published was quickly suspended.

In addition, another Internet user had indicated that his own profile photo had been usurped by this account, and that he was not the author of the racist remarks against Mbappé.

According to

Le Parisien

, it was this last alert that triggered the investigation into the racist tweets.

The investigations would be extended to insults received by other players of the France team.
