The Republic has lost 14 academicians this year

  According to the website of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Wang Zherong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a tank vehicle design expert, and a professor-level senior engineer, died of illness at the Beijing 301 Hospital on the evening of May 31 at the age of 86.

  According to public information, Wang Zherong was born on October 5, 1935 in Gaoyang County, Hebei Province.

Graduated from Harbin Military Engineering College in 1962.

From 1963 to 1984, he undertook a number of tank armored vehicle development tasks.

After 1986, he served as the deputy chief designer and overall team leader of the third-generation tank, one of the four major national key equipment development projects.

Together with the chief engineer, he established the design concept of "system to win", and presided over the technical work of the whole system for 15 years.

After the design of the third-generation tank was finalized, he assumed the chief designer of the WZ123A(Y) project.

In 2001, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

  Since 2022, the Republic has so far lost 14 academicians of the two academies.

  On January 27, Dai Yongnian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a famous mining and metallurgist in my country, and a professor at Kunming University of Science and Technology, died in Kunming at the age of 92.

  On January 30, Zhu Zhaoliang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a well-known soil agricultural chemist in my country, and a researcher at the Nanjing Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, died in Nanjing at the age of 90.

  On March 6, Mao Yongze, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, an expert in nuclear technology applications, and a former researcher at the Institute of Chemical Defense of the Academy of Military Sciences, died in Beijing at the age of 91.

  On March 16, Chen Jingxiong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, an expert in electromagnetic field theory and antenna technology, and the former deputy director of the 23rd Institute of the Second Research Institute of the Seventh Ministry of Machinery Industry, died in Beijing at the age of 101.

  On March 20, Wen Shengchang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a famous physical oceanographer, and a professor of Ocean University of China, died in Qingdao at the age of 100.

  On March 23, Zhang Ziyi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a famous animal nutritionist, died in Beijing at the age of 97.

  On April 6, Yu Guocong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a famous chemical expert and professor of Tianjin University, died in Tianjin at the age of 100.

  On April 19, Pan Jiluan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a famous welding expert, died in Beijing at the age of 95.

  On April 23, Li Sanli, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a computer expert and a professor at Tsinghua University, died in Beijing at the age of 87.

  On May 8, Zhuang Qiaosheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a famous wheat geneticist and breeder, and a researcher at the Institute of Crop Science, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, died in Beijing at the age of 105.

  On May 19, Huang Wenhu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a famous mechanical dynamicist in China and the former president of Harbin Institute of Technology, died in Harbin at the age of 96.
