A new sensitive round of negotiations between Sweden, Finland and Turkey is expected in Brussels shortly.
The Nordic countries' NATO applications will be discussed again.
- I am convinced that we will find a united way forward, says Jens Stoltenberg during a joint press conference with Antony Blinken after the meeting in the White House in Washington.
The US Secretary of State also expressed his confidence, pointing out that the disagreement with Turkey will reach a solution.
- There is a strong consensus within NATO for a quick accession of Sweden and Finland.
I am still very confident that it will happen.
As I have said before - it is a process.
And if allies have concerns during that process, they will address them and we will address them - NATO will address them.
And issues that Turkey has raised directly with Finland and Sweden are addressed by Finns and Swedes, with NATO's help, he says.
The United States is pressuring Turkey
In addition, the United States is stepping up its efforts to put pressure on Turkey regarding the ongoing process of Sweden's and Finland's applications.
When asked if the country could consider exporting fighter jets to Turkey to reduce tensions, Blinken answers:
- We continue to work with issues as they arise in terms of weapons systems that Turkey wants to acquire.
