"Pensions" launches a service to assess health fitness for work through its website

The General Pensions and Social Security Authority announced the launch of the "Health Fitness Assessment for Work" service on its website. The service allows employers in the government and private sectors to submit requests for an assessment of health fitness to work for their employees directly to the Authority instead of the specialized medical committee.

Hind Al-Suwaidi, Director of the Insurance Benefits Department, said: "According to the new procedures, health fitness assessment applications for workers in the government and private sectors are received through the "Health Fitness Work Assessment" service available on the authority's website www.gpssa.gov.ae under the category of services Employers, and the authority submits these requests to the “medical committee concerned with the work of the authority” after ensuring that they fulfill all the conditions and documents required by the committee.

She added, "This step comes as an effort by the General Pension and Social Security Authority to implement the best retirement practices."

One of the conditions for obtaining the service is that the insured / contributor / be on the job, and that he is subject to the provisions of the Federal Pensions Law No. / 7/ of 1999 for Pensions and Social Security and its amendments.

The documents required upon submission include a medical report approved by a government hospital in the country whose issuance date does not exceed six months, a copy of the medical examination upon appointment, a copy of a valid Emirates ID, and a recent photo of the applicant.

It should be noted that the insured’s condition must be presented to the competent medical committee while he is on the job and not after the end of his services, so that if the committee issues its decision on the proof of disability or health unfitness, then his services with the employer will be terminated, and he is entitled to a retirement pension if his services are terminated for lack of health fitness to work. or his total disability, regardless of the length of his service.

The authority confirms that medical reports issued by any other medical committees in the country to prove cases of unfitness for work may not be considered, as the Pensions Law has entrusted the competent medical committee formed by the Minister of Health the task of proving cases of total disability and health unfitness in accordance with the provisions of the Pensions and Social Security Law .
