• The emotion was palpable among the Ile-de-France residents who welcomed the two new stations on line 12 this Tuesday, May 31.

  • Highly anticipated, this extension should make it possible to accommodate 40,000 additional passengers.

It is a relief for the Albertivillariens who have been waiting for them for a long time.

The Mairie d'Aubervilliers and Aimé Césaire stations on line 12 finally opened their doors to the public this Tuesday at 1 p.m.

"We thought it would never happen," says the newsagent at the entrance to the metro.

In a festive atmosphere, hundreds of people rushed into the trains, most often to visit, photograph the places or take selfies.

Adèle, elegant and spontaneous, shares her enthusiasm “We are very, very happy that this is finally done.

She, who works in Paris, had to take the RER B or the bus to go home.

“It will really shorten my commute.”

The 40-year-old adds that she "bought" in Aubervilliers in anticipation of this line extension.

Aimé Césaire does not leave users insensitive

In the heart of the city, the Mairie d'Aubervilliers station will serve the center of the town and energize the district.

The Aimé Césaire station, located near the Saint-Denis canal, enjoys a strategic location and serves the Millénaire shopping center.

Its name in homage to the Martinican poet does not leave visitors insensitive.

Christine, of Guadeloupean mother and Cameroonian father, came to photograph the station to immortalize this historic moment for her and for her ancestors: “It means a lot to me, I am touched that this station is called Aimé Césaire”.

With its two new stations, line 12 is now 17 km long.

It serves a total of 31 stations and connects to 9 metro lines.

Three tram lines and 2 RER lines.

Inserted between line B of the RER to the west and line 7 of the metro to the east, line 12 thus extended densifies the rail service of the near suburbs.

It will also be, during 2030, connected to the future line 15 of the Ile-de-France metro.

With these two stations, line 12, which already has 250,000 passengers per day, should accommodate nearly 40,000 additional users.
