Mahboub confirmed to «Emirates Today» that work is underway to complete the requirements to start operational operations in four new driving schools in the Emirate of Dubai, which include new institutes and branches of accredited institutes, noting that driving education and training in Dubai is subject to the regulations and powers of training institutes licensed by the UAE. He stated that the authority updated the policy of licensing institutes by adopting a new activity related to licensing independent inspection sites and smart test yards, in accordance with the standards and conditions set by the licensing agency based on international best practices within the development projects it recently implemented in the driving education sector.

Mahboub stressed that the authority provides permanent support for the training and examination processes provided in the driving institutes through the Smart Driver Licensing Center, which monitors and follows up on all training procedures and driving examinations, in addition to customer inquiries related to training and examination.

Four years ago, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai began implementing the smart test in the driving test, which the trainee undergoes in the last stage of the practical tests, which are required to be passed in order to obtain a driver’s license, in order to ensure transparency and accuracy in the assessment, raise the level of driving skills for drivers, and provide A platform for direct follow-up and intervention in the event of potential risks during the examination process, as there are cameras inside the examination and training vehicles that are used to review and monitor the performance of trainers.

Mahboub stated that the authority has developed a roadmap to upgrade all systems concerned with training and examination services to contribute to the development of the partnership with the driving institutes sector in an effective manner to ensure contribution to improving the customers' experience.

He added that the Authority's Licensing Agency is keen to simplify and facilitate drivers licensing services within the digital transformation program, by re-designing the service and the customer's journey in line with his requirements on the one hand, and with the digitization of these services by providing them on smart channels on the other hand, which in turn contributes to Reducing customer visits to centers.
