China News Service, May 31 (Xinhua) According to comprehensive Japanese media reports, due to the lack of safety measures at the Hokkaido Electric Power Company's Park Nuclear Power Plant in the face of a tsunami, the Sapporo District Court ordered the nuclear power plant to suspend operation on the 31st, but rejected the request for the decommissioned reactor.

The Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK) said it was the first judicial decision to shut down a nuclear power plant since the Fukushima nuclear accident in 2011, citing insufficient safety measures to deal with the tsunami.

In response to this verdict, Hokkaido Electric Power Company stated that it has explained the safety of the Pork nuclear power plant from the aspects of science and technology. It regrets that it cannot agree with the verdict and will appeal.

Previously, Hokkaido residents and others demanded that the Hokkaido Electric Power Company scrap the reactor and stop the operation of the nuclear power plant on the grounds that an accident at the Tokari nuclear power plant would threaten life and physical safety.

The Nippon Moor Nuclear Power Plant is located in Momo Village, Hokkaido, and is affiliated to the Hokkaido Electric Power Company of Japan.
