The Canadian Ministry of Global Affairs (that is, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) announced on May 31, local time, that 22 Russian citizens and 4 financial institutions and banks have been added to the sanctions list against Russia.

Among the 22 new individuals was Alina Kabaeva, the 2004 Athens Olympic rhythmic gymnastics champion.

  It is understood that the sanctioned individuals and institutions are believed to have close ties to the Kremlin.
