This Sunday afternoon, a 74-year-old lady called the police to report that she had just been the victim of a rape at her home in the Grand Parc district of Bordeaux.
Her attacker would have followed her home, after she got off the tram.
"The respondent was arrested in the minutes following the commission of this crime thanks to the responsiveness of the victim who called the police services and the intervention of the latter, present not far from the facts", explains the public prosecutor Frédérique Porterie at

He recognizes the facts
During his custody, the suspect, 29 years old and from Mayotte, "recognizes the facts, invoking to have fallen in love with the victim after having met her in the street", explains the prosecution.
The record of the respondent has three entries (theft in a meeting and rebellion with a weapon in 2014 and use of narcotics in 2018) but he was not known to justice for sexual violence.
After extension of police custody, the prosecution has planned to open a judicial investigation this Tuesday afternoon, with a request for placement in pre-trial detention.
On referral to the prosecution, the victim was taken care of as part of the personalized victim assessment system (EVVI). The investigation was entrusted to the departmental security.
