In the trial on suspicion of terrorism against Bundeswehr officer Franco A., his mother testified as a witness.

The 60-year-old woman told the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court on Monday that her son had never been violent or aggressive and, to her knowledge, was not interested in National Socialism.

He was always open to everything.

She couldn't imagine planning attacks with him.

However, she herself is not interested in politics and has not discussed it in detail with her son.

The federal prosecutor accuses Franco A. of planning attacks on politicians.

The Bundeswehr soldier, who is currently being released from service, also assumed a false identity as a Syrian refugee - from the point of view of the prosecutors, in order to direct the suspicion of an attack against refugees and to shake confidence in the asylum policy.

A. was arrested at Vienna Airport in February 2017 when he tried to get a loaded pistol from a hiding place in an airport toilet.

It is not yet known where the weapon came from and what he planned to do with it.

where are the guns

The accused's partner was also questioned again about the whereabouts of several weapons - the fact that this has not been clarified is one reason why A. was taken back into custody in February.

His partner said she knew of a rifle and a pistol that A. told her were abroad.

"As far as I know, they were in Strasbourg," she said.

A. had an apartment in the French city.

The witness did not want to say more, citing her right to refuse to testify.

The process has been going on for more than a year.

On Monday, the defense requested, among other things, that a left-wing politician should be questioned to show that A. was not willing to use violence against those who thought differently.

The chamber stated that in its view the taking of evidence was complete and set a deadline for the submission of requests for evidence until June 13th.
