Germany plans to establish gas supplies from around the world in order to “strengthen independence” from Russian imports, the chancellor said.

Earlier, representatives of the Alternative for Germany party in the Bundestag spoke about the negative consequences of a possible introduction of a European embargo on the supply of Russian energy resources. 

"The consequences for citizens and businesses in Germany will be significant and incomparable to the expected impact of the sanctions," the party's "Disrupt Oil and Gas Embargo - Protect Citizens and Businesses" document reads.
