Analysts of the Iranian publication Resalat noted that the Mir system allowed Moscow to mitigate the consequences of the termination of work in Russia by Visa and MasterCard.

“And it was this factor that simply deprived many of the sanctions imposed against Russia of meaning,” the publication says.

The authors of the publication also drew attention to the decision to transfer payments for gas to unfriendly countries in rubles: Russia managed to put the West in a difficult position.

On March 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that payments for natural gas supplies "to so-called unfriendly countries" would be made in rubles.

On May 24, the Financial Times reported that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban found it counterproductive to further discuss the EU's oil embargo on Russia without agreement on alternatives.
